A less competitive program than TRAVEL HOCKEY with shorter travel distances (Northwestern Connecticut). Designed for players whose skills need development before TRAVEL HOCKEY or the family that can't make the commitment that TRAVEL HOCKEY requires.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Children ages 9-12. For the 2019/20 season, that would be birth years 2007 through 2010.
WHAT MAKES TRAVEL HOCKEY DIFFERENT THAN LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY?
LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY plays a reduced game schedule (typically 10-12 games) and approximately 35-40 shared ice practices. TRAVEL HOCKEY requires the highest level of commitment and consists of an aggressive schedule of games, practices, and clinics, along with 2 tournaments.
PLACEMENT ON A TEAM
There are no tryouts required to play LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY. Any player that would like to join the LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY program will be placed on an age-appropriate team. To sign up for LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY, online registration is required. Although players can register up until the start of the season in mid-October, early registration is requested in order to facilitate the ordering of uniforms.
The LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY season begins on October 12, 2019. The teams can be on the ice up to 3 times each week as follows:
- Saturday practice (usually at 8:30am) at the Canterbury School.
- Sunday practice/game (around 10:15) at The Gunnery.
- A weeknight practice at any of our home rinks (Canterbury, Gunnery, Rumsey Hall, South Kent)
Note that some away games will be scheduled in place of the Saturday or Sunday home ice sessions. The times and dates for those games will be posted on the schedule throughout the season.
One teams is expected to be formed for LIMITED-TRAVEL HOCKEY as follows:
SQUIRTS/PEEWEES (Ages 9-12)
